In a pair of candelabra, one has T pellet M marked inside a candle holder and the other has a flower stamped inside a candle holder. They are both marked with the normal double sunbursts of a Matthew Boulton.

Does this mean that the individual candelabrum was made by different silversmiths working for Matthew Boulton?

Is there anyway to fine out who TM is or who the flower represents?

I brought up this old thread to see if any one would have information at to how to track down the craftsman for Matthew Boulton's company with the mark of T pellet M. The small flower could have been used for quality control within the manufacturing facility, but for someone to design and use a die with serrated edges and perfectly formed letters would seem to be unneeded work for something that was only going to be used for internal tracking. Also, the more Sheffield plate I see, the more impressive this art form is and the workman must have needed many of the skills as those working in solid silver.

I thought about this old thread because were found the Sheffield plate epergne pictured below at a recent antique show and again I am impressed with quality of workmanship expended in making this beautiful object.

This epergne was particularly interesting to me because it has interchangeable glass baskets and candle holders. Also the quality is much better that many of the electroplated epergnes I have seen. Somehow the detail in the silver is crisper (particularly the paws) than most of the silver plated epergnes I have seen and it must have taken real skill to accomplish this. This epergne is unmarked and it is my understanding that much of Sheffield plated items were unmarked. This one came with only the center glass and the candle holders so we most likely will have to buy replacement glass baskets for the four small baskets.
