I have a Coffee/Tea service that includes a creamer & covered sugar marked Wilcox International Silver Co. "New Beverly Manor" #1304 and #1303 ... The tea and coffee pot are marked Wilcox International Silver Co. "Beverly Manor" and do not have a number stamp. I was wondering if someone might be able to help me in valuing this IP: Logged |

On the Silver Salon Forums we do not provide valuations. A simple way to get an idea of the value of your silver is to watch eBay for the next year and see what several similar items sell for. Or you could secure the services of a professional appraiser. To request information about an professional appraiser in your area, go to here. The following is from this link: quote: To find an appraiser in your area click here. IP: Logged |

Just letting the curator weigh in here. Although museum staff are not allowed to give monetary values, there are general comments we can make. First, plated silver is generally speaking far less valuable than sterling or coin. However, the value of plated silver (as with sterling, for that matter) is largely based on its aesthetic appeal (for plate, the flashier the better, since their greatest designs tend to be high-blown Victorian) and their condition. The exception to the "flashy" aspect of plated ware is the art deco style, 1920s-30s, when great plated wares were made by high-style modern designers--these things are often valuable regardless of the fact they are plated--but condition is an important factor here. The Sam Wagstaff sale many years ago at Christie's set a benchmark for plated goods, and this because it was a collection of remarkable diversity and inventiveness of form. IP: Logged |
