I have come across some silver plated spoons, marked with a variant of "Cream of Rya" on the back. One design is of wheat decoratively down the edges of the handle and reads "Cream of Rye Silver Co." on the back. The other design is simply the half wreath with a ribbon in the middle (I'm not sure there is a proper name for this motif, but I've seen it before.) On the back it has "Cream of Rye" raised in a depressed oval.

I've exhausted every resource I can think of - has anyone else ever come across this?

Pictures would be really nice, both of the spoons, the marks, etc.

Just a description makes it very hard to picture and identify.

This line of silverware was made by Oneida and distributed by the Cream of Rye cereal company. The design is very high style Art Nouveau. It appears that unlike some other premium patterns (ie Carnation) this one was exclusive to the cereal company. Cream of Rye tends to exist mainly in oval soup/ dessert/ cereal/ place spoons. Which makes me think these were the free items, available simply for postage. This was however a full line pattern: full place settings and servers were made. The cartouche on the back suggests that the main consumers of Rye cereal were immigrants who would monogram in the European style.

Hey, thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I thought it might have something to do with that, but "Cream of Rye silver Co." threw me off!
