I found this old posting researching a spoon I just bought in Hungary. The word "Argentor" forms a semi-circle around three triangles, the middle one above the other two. Is this a mark of the Argentor company? I will post a photo tomorrow when I get over jet lag! Tom IP: Logged |

Here is the information I found and posted previously argentor art nouveau Argentor Werke seems to have been part of Wiener Werke (Vienna works), a cooperative of sorts for new artists doing Art nouveau, art deco work from 1890 to 1932. Werke artists produced furniture, sculpture, lamps, and metal work. They seem to have fallen on hard times during the interwar period due to the post-WWI collapse of the Austrian economy and the depression. Argentor Werke appears to have survived through the War, producing of all things military medals for the Wehrmacht (German Army). A new marking system using numbers and letters was developed for these medals. Tom IP: Logged |
