Can someone help me in identifying the maker and date of manufacture of silver plated lid and decorative straps on a treen coffee pot. Sorry I am not able to furnish a picture. The initials are T H & S with the TH over the &S . Second symbol is EP with the E reversed. Third is the Sheffield crown. Fourth is an ornate "Z". Fifth is a fleur-de-lis/plume. Thanks in advance for any replies. Frank in Cheshire IP: Logged |

Hello, Your maker is Thomas Hardwood & Sons of Birmingham. Your mark was apparently used from 1864 to around 1896. I hope this helps! Brent IP: Logged |

Thanks for the reply, Brent. The dates of usage of the mark pre-dates my original estimate based on the overall piece design and condition of the pot liner. I now think that the coffee pot was probably made in the 1890's. Does the ornate "Z" give any clue as to the exact year or did it represent some other bit of info?
