Can anyone tell me about this company? Dates in existence, etc.? Have a pitcher, I think is silverplate over copper, with a mark as follows: A circle - with Buck Silver Co. Salamanca N.Y. around it. a deer with antlers in the center and Quadruple Plate around the outside. I'm trying to date it and also find out something about the company. Can anyone help? IP: Logged |

According to an old copy of Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers by Dorothy Rainwater, Buck Silver Company was listed in Salamanca, NY 1900-1914. They made an extensive line of plated holloware The company became a plating company after that and was out of business by 1922. The description of your piece indicates c. 1900. I have not seen many pieces by this company. Vi IP: Logged |
