I have an incomplete tea set by Wilcox, but I'm having trouble finding what the pattern is called, and also wondering if there is any significance to the cross on the lids? Thanks!

Usually patterns on holloware did not have names until well into the 20th century. The band around the middle is one that Wilcox and other makers used for over 20 years. The cross on the top was probably meant to be a fleur di lis. The feet are sometimes refered to as 'old man of the mountain'. They resemble a popular pattern glass motif.

Matching these up is very difficult. The companies used stock parts bought from all over the country. The sets were assembled in a fashion that does not make a whole lot of sense to us today. There are some that seem to be one of a kind, and a few that are all alike. And many, many that are ALMOST identical. This is a big project, one that can take a long time. On the way to a complete set, one finds things that almost match. Which is a very interesting way to do things.

I agree that the top of the lid seems to be a stylized fleur de lis, but there is a more distinct cross lower on that same detail picture. It has what appears to be a rope or chain looped under it. Perhaps that is the cross that we are asked to consider.

Yes, that is the cross to consider. Thank you for noticing.
