I recently purchased a very ornate tea set with tea pot, coffee pot, c&s and tray. I have been unable to identify the marks. It reads: "Silver on Copper" then a crown with a cross on top with the initials B S C, each incircled in a box. Under that is reg. I know nothing about silver or silver plate. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi, Your set is probably a product of the Birmingham Silver Co., of Yalesville, Co. They used the cross & crown mark you describe. The company was the Goldfeder Silver Co, of Brooklyn, NY, from 1932 until about 1957, when the company changed names and locations. They made good quality silverplate, mainly tea sets. Hope this helps! Brent IP: Logged |
