I am new into collecting silver/silver plate items although my collection is growing rapidly. At auction I picked up 2 pieces that I have so far been unable to positively ID. One is a "left facing smoking pipe, a windmill, then a right facing smoking pipe. It is on a victorian style highly decorated vase, The second is an arrowhead pointing right with the initial J, a diamond with a crown, then a arrow pointing left with the initial F. This is on a small folding handled cookie or candie dish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ------------------ IP: Logged |

Welcome to the world of silver collecting. You might want to get a copy of Rainwater's American Silver Manufacturers. The first is Barbour Silver Company of Hartford CT. The second is Freidman Silver of Brooklyn. Both have been discussed in various posts, so try the search feature for both. [This message has been edited by wev (edited 09-24-2004).] IP: Logged |
