I am searching for information on a coffee urn made by the Meriden Britannia Company. The urn is unique as it has lion heads and feet holding the urn up. The detail of the urn is very beautiful. I have photos, but don't know where to send them to you...can you let me know? The urn is warmed by an oil lamp below. Can you tell me anything about it? I appreciate it. IP: Logged |

A picture would help us. And please check the FAQ at the top of the silverplate forum. The lion head motif persisted throughout the 19th century, so seeing the actual item lets us date it more consistently. And it appears that the basic urn with lion form was taken up by lamp makers, and is still made today. Thanks, Dale IP: Logged |
