I have a tea pot with James dixon & Son, numbered 1002 and G 3. It has the Trumpet Hallmark. Can you tell me something about this product. Age, history, designer etc IP: Logged |

James Dixon started in Sheffield, England, in 1806. He was joined by his sons in 1835. The company has produced both silver and silver-plate - your teapot is silverplate, as indicated by the lack of official British hallmarks for sterling silver. If you can post pictures of the mark and the piece, it should be possible to date it more precisely. [This message has been edited by Patrick Vyvyan (edited 12-12-2004).] IP: Logged |

James Dixon & Sons registered the Trumpet mark in 1879 and used it until they ceased making electroplated silver in about 1935 - so your piece is between these dates. James Dixon & Sons are reckoned to be one of the foremost manufacturers of silver and silverplate. IP: Logged |
