I have a fork and something?? spoon? server? scaper? and would like to know what it is and how old and the pattern name. It appears to be William Hutton and Sons Britannia Plate. WH & S BP. (The archived questions/answers were very helpful in this regard!) I've searched google high and low for variations on this and one thought is that it is an asparagus fork and spoon/server (www.replacements.com show a full listing of cutlery types). However all the WH&S asparagus gizmos that come up in searches appear to be little tongs. I just recently bought this (in Australia)at an antique shop on the off-chance they turned out to be a set for babies (for a gift) - eg a scraper and a fork. As I recall I had a food pusher. little fork and spoon. The pattern at the round end was on many bits of cutlery from my childhood - does it have some name?

I don't see any marks indicating that it is silver plate (i.e., epns, ep, or A1). Are you sure it is not silver? TM IP: Logged |

The marks are those of William Hutton & Sons, Sheffield (and London) silverlaters. BP is Britannia Plate. IP: Logged |

The fork is almost certainly a sardine fork. I have a very similar English silverplate fork with a sardine engraved on it for good measure. The other piece is new to me, but I can imagine that they were sold as a sardine serving set. Sardines are slippery rascals, and having an extra piece could help with the serving. Brent IP: Logged |
