HI I would like to know if anyone can help ID a sugar bowl and creamer. Here is what I think the mark says C & [or 8] Co [or Cd](castle) E P. If it is in fact an E P I take that to mean electroplated. It is very heavy- 10 oz. Measures 6 1/2 inches long from handle to handle and 2 inches tall in middle and 3 inches tall at handles. I am intrigued by what else anyone can make of the mark. I bought them because I liked them. I hope the pics are OK. I can probably get a better one of the mark- when I re-sized it I think it got harder to read.

"EP" does indicate electroplate. Your picture and my eyes are not conducive to helping with the letter marks. I know the platers were not required to follow silver hallmarking conventions, but I am intrigued by the castle, which was the hallmark for Exeter. Mere speculation though. Good luck, IP: Logged |

Thanks for info-I will try to get a better pic of the mark -I think that the one on the creamer is more distinct. IP: Logged |

This appears to be a fairly modern example of an old form. My impression is that such things are made and sold to those who like the look of old silver but can not afford it. Or who wish to use this everyday. A lovely piece, made by an unknown maker. Sometimes these are sold by museum gift shops. None of this is a whole lot of help, but that's what I can say, Dale IP: Logged |
