This set of 5 pieces are similar but the bottom of the pieces have 3 diffent marks. It dates from approx. 1920-30s, I think. The tea pot and coffee pot has this:
The creamer and waste pot has this:
And the last tea pot has this, which I assume is FB Rogers Silver Company?
This is the set. What style would you call it? IP: Logged |

Yes, I am HighstrungDesigns but this is not to be sold. It was left to my friend by her Mother and she thought I could help her to find out more about it. She is not interested in selling it and she does not use a computer, so I thought this would be a way I could help her. If this is not allowed, I am sorry. IP: Logged |

It sounds as if the purpose of this request is well within our guidelines. This kind of non-commercial informational service to silver owners is one of our reasons for our being here. I am sure someone knowledgeable in silverplate will be able to answer your questions. IP: Logged |

It is not unusual for tea sets to be assembled from different makers. Doing so allows the original buyer to obtain the sizes and shapes that fit individual needs. Also, old makers offered what was called a 'dessert set' which was a sugar and creamer used with fruit. These frequently are somewhat larger than the standard. If you could post pictures and sizes we might have a better idea of age etc.

The marks all appear to be department or jewelry store standard quality, used from the eighteen ninties down into the present. For some reason, I am not able to enter numbers here. IP: Logged |

Lovely set. The sugar and creamer seem a bit larger than usual. The teapot and coffee are more alike than I would have expected. The hot water seems to have lost its stand and lantern. Pieces in this swirl type design are shown in the 1886 Meriden Brittania Co cataloge. And in the 1884 Gorham one. This type of design seems to have been popular since the late 18th century. My own guess, which is a guess, is that this dates from the late 19th century. I feel that a date in the 1920's is just a tad too late. But it could have been purchased then. I also find the marks inconclusive as to age. IP: Logged |

The numbers are probably stock numers for ordering the pieces. Tom IP: Logged |
