Just purchased at auction in Buenos Aires a Christofle Silver Plate and Covered Vegetable (?) dish that sits on the plate. Currently a sterling version of the plate is on sale at EBAY, exactly the same weight and size as mine (seller states made before 1940, have no idea age of mine). Mine is slightly worn from polishing at the edge of the rim of the dish cover and some wear on base of plate and bowl, the plate having somewhat more obvious wear (plate has number 1182218 stamped and a 4 & a 5 stamp in addition to the Cristofle name). Wear on all is nothing major but something you note. It has other other very slight use related wear. All three pieces are elegantly monogramed (the most beautiful I have ever seen). Questions are: 1. Would replating hurt value (I have good source)?. How do monograms affect value of item? Thanks for any help. IP: Logged |
