I just found what I think is a silverplate egg coddler. There is a mark but I was wondering how old this company was and what the marks mean. The bottom says Edward & Sons Glasgow with the numbers Y75I or Y751. It doesn't says silverplate or any kind of metal but I'm assuming it's silverplate, would that be correct knowing these marks. Thanks a bunch. Bobbie K. IP: Logged |

Edwards was a retail jewelery shop in Glasgow which retailed good quality You may wish to inspect your piece carefully for possible hallmarks on the body of your piece. Vi IP: Logged |

Hi Vi. Thanks so much for your response. I took another look at this piece. On each piece is a . with a - over or under it. That's a dot and a dash. Could that be a Hallmark? Also do you know what the y75I is? There is also the number 96 ED/A very lightly scratched into the bottom. At first I thought the owner had scratched some identifying marks but the 96 is scratched on each piece very faintly. Any ideas? IP: Logged |
