I just bought this teapot at an auction as silver plated. According to my home resources this item was made by English Sheffield Company Robertson and Belk, and It's quite well marked. It has also two the same marks under the lid and on a side of bottom apart from rest of marks. I can identify marks of this silversmith but can't rest.
I clean it and got the feeling that may be silver. (I had to scrub inside for heavy tea stains) Please, can anyone help? IP: Logged |

The third mark is a fancy EP which stands for electro plate which is another way of saying silver plate. Makers of silver plate often obscured the EP or EPNS (electro plated nickel silver which is found on some other silver plated objects) by using excessively elaborate gothic style letters in order to make their wares more desireable to buyers. The auctioneer in this case was knowledgable and truthful in his/her description of the pot - most auctioneers I've ever come across are quite sharp in telling plate from silver.
