I hope someone can help identify these two water pitchers. I realize the are silver plate, but thats all I know. 1. The first has EPNS, each letter in a box, then under that is a balding, bearded man facing right, a 5 pointed crown and a fancy script letter "S". Under that is "A 50" 2. The second has a star, then "Rogers & Bro." Under that is 231 or maybe 2317. Any help?? IP: Logged |

Your first pitcher, with the bearded man, the crown and the S, was made by the Sheffield Silver Co. According to Rainwater, they registered a trademark for plating silver in 1919. They moved from New York to Norton, MA and became a division of Reed & Barton in 1974. Your other pitcher was made by Rogers & Bro., Waterbury, CT. Your pitcher was probably made between 1874, when they added holloware to their production of flatware, and 1898, when they became part of International Silver. Or not--some divisions of INSILCO kept using their own stamps. Hope this helps, IP: Logged |
