Bought this beautiful compote with C. Brewer & Co. and the letters EPNS...beginning silver collector here without any luck on finding info on this piece...would appreciate help! IP: Logged |

Welcome Milamgirl! It would be great if you could post a photo of your compote and a closeup of the markings as that will help us to help you. There is a link on "How to Post Photos" at the top of each page, just under the big green box that gives you instructions on how to do this. In the meantime, I can tell you that your compote is not solid silver, it is silver plated. The EPNS stands for Electro Plated Nickel Silver. The base metal is an alloy of nickel and copper and there is a thin coating of silver deposited over it. IP: Logged |
