I found two candlesticks in terrible condition, stamped made in England, but cannot identify the hallmark on it. I think it is very old (George III???) and it seems to be not silverplated but a sort of copper, not bronze.

Thanks very much

I saw by silverplated a candlestick with practically the same foot (but there was some wooden weight in it) It was by moderator Dale, I tried to put a message there bit it was not allowed.

If they are stamped "made in England" then they most likely post-date 1890. If they have a coppery or bronze-like composition, then they are not silver and don't carry a hallmark. The mark/s you can see probably relate to the manufacturer, and may be identifiable if you can post an image.

One should also note that the EP mark means electroplate. This was a process developed in the early- to mid-nineteenth century, and still used today. Prior to this, "silver-plated" articles were crafted in the manner of Old Sheffield Plate, whereby sheets of silver were fused to sheets of copper (or maybe other base metal). Electroplating is popularly considered the development of George and Henry Elkington, during the 1830's and 1840's (well after the George III period).

As for the other markings, I suppose they could be considered pseudomarks, intended to appear something like actual English assay hallmarks (if looked at very briefly and not very carefully). I'm fairly sure that you could identify the exact maker, as well as approximate time of manufacture, by consulting any book on English platers' marks.
