I listed this item on ebay and now am afraid it is worth more than the reserve I set. Please help me identify this little pot. HI all, I have this nifty little tea pot or I think it is. Can anyone help me with the date or if it is really silver? it says mfd & plated by Reed & Barton. It has a funny pinkish peach color to it. I have cleaned it but it is dark in some spots and I am afraid I will do more damage then good. I found this pot in some of my moms things 4 years after she passed. I didn't know what it was it was in a little zippered bag. There is no family history of this item so I am at a loss. I have found lots about Reed & Barton but the markings on this one we nothing like any I have found.

Christina, You have answered some of your own questions when you said it was manufactured and "plated" by Reed & Barton. Plated means it is made from a base metal and then plated with a coat of silver. One of the forum guidelines specifically states that the questions are not to be used for online auctions. You placed this same post yesterday. Please tale time to read and abide by the guidelines. I believe ebay has it's own group of members who may be able to help you in your research before you post a listing with them. Your pot is in the style of the late 1870's to 1880's. How tall is it? That is what determines function. If it is in the range of 8" to 10" it probably is a tea or coffee pot. The pink you mention is something I associate with items that have been wrapped in newspaper for long periods of time. It is very hard to get out but sometimes Simichrome will do it. A nice pot, but one that frequently will not sit level. IP: Logged |
