I have a three section meat platter from F. B. Rogers with the tree pattern in the center. The marking on the back is a crown with the trade on one side of the top and mark on the other side. Under the crown it says F. B. Rogers and under that it says Silver CO. Next to the Crown on one side at the bottom is 18 and the other is 83. The closest thing to this piece I can find is the piece listed but the border around the one I have is a lot more detailed. The corners and the center of each of the sides have a pattern on them. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO FOR ME, please help. IP: Logged |

What exactly is it you want to know and why exactly do you want to know it? IP: Logged |

I have the platter from my mother-in-law. It was given to me as a gift. I would like to know the age of the plate, and maybe a place where I could get an approximate value on it. It was all tarnished and I thought it was something else. Then I found out that the platter was silver and I cleaned it and it is beautiful. I love it. Just so I have knowledge on where and when it was made or something similar. Thanks IP: Logged |

F. B. Rogers was founded in 1883 in Shelburne Falls MA and moved to Taunton in 1886. The company became a division of National Silver Company in 1955 and was still in business in the 1980s. There is no way to accurately date the piece, except to say that the mark described was one of their last, probably post WW2. One word of caustion: it is not silver, but silverplate; keep polishing to a minimum. We don't do valuations of any sort, but such pieces appear on ebay and the like quite often -- watch for a while and you'll get a good idea. IP: Logged |

When new, three part trays like this were promoted as being for the servantless house. The wife could put the meat, the potatoes and the vegetable on one tray, with the gravy in the well. Then one trip to the table and dinner was served. These are nice pieces, very useful and workable. IP: Logged |
