I recently purchased some silver at an auction and I have been able to identify some of the pieces but I am having a hard time identifying this one.

I think that the piece is a Roman (Homan) plate and the mark resembles Prince William and Prince Henry of Wales coat of arms. The link to the page that shows the image is at http://www.heraldicsculptor.com/heraldry.html
Except that there is no crown on or above the shield. It looks like a plain shield.

On the left side is a lion then a shield and then a unicorn. The shield is divided into 4 parts and the letters from left to right (top) E P. Then in the bottom of the shield from left to right are N S. The Lion has its' left hind paw on what seems to be a rock with the letter L in it. And the unicorn's right hind hoof is on a similar rock with the letter B in it.

There are no other markings that I can locate on the piece.

I hope that my description has been clear enough and I hope that someone will be able to tell me who made this piece. Any information will be greatly appreciated. If my description is unclear or there is something that you don't understand I will try to explain it better. I'm sorry that I can't provide a picture of the mark, but the coat of arms is similar to the mark, hope it helps.

All I can say with certainty is that EPNS stands for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver, so what you have is silverplated rather than solid silver.

Thanks for the information. I really don't know a lot about silver, but it seems that with every piece I clean I'm learning something new.

Is there anyone else who has any idea on who made this or any other leads I can follow to find out who made this piece. Thanks.
