Since plate marks were not regulated as were those for Sterling, interpreting them can be very difficult, especially since they were made to mimic true hallmarks. I cannot make out the letters beneath the castle. Can you identify what they are? Also, does it look as though the damaged area above the marks contained a third number, letter or symbol? Wyler published a book on Victorian Plate that may be helpful if you can find a copy in your local library. Good luck, Tom IP: Logged
