Dale Posts: 2132 Registered: Nov 2002	posted 10-25-2005 07:17 PM This appears to mean 'electroplate on german silver'. The 1 1/2 probably refers to capacity, 1 1/2 pints or 3 cups. This is a nice piece, most likely a chocolate pot. MI &G may be the name of a railroad, Michigan and something. Frequently such pots were made for railroads and restaurants. IP: Logged

If it is a genuine chocoltate pot, the lid must conceal a hole, through which a (mostly wooden, sometimes ivory) stick to stirr the hot milk is to be put. Mostly the lid has a swiveling top to open or close the hole. If it doesn't have the hole, it is just a coffeepot, with the handle sideways. IP: Logged
