[26-0455] I have a well used and battered Silver Plate Tray, Teapot, Milk Jug and 2 Bowls marked Elkington Plate and my research shows the dates between L & O as being 1922 to 1925. Curious about the other marks i.e M/S, 27503 and particularly the inscription which seems to be A D entwined with a W. I seem to be asking a lot of questions but the Forum contains such a knowledgeable and helpful group of people.

My first thought is hotel ware which is pretty common. Hotels bought heavy silver plated services and had their hotel monograms engraved on everything. The beat up condition you mention sounds consistent with this guess as this stuff was used every day for decades before being discarded. Hotel plate sounds about right to me also. This looks to be a commercial item. IP: Logged |
