Can anyone tell me about a silver teaspoon made in Bimingham? The top of the handle has an oval shape with a red rose on the left and a red leaf on the right. The top of the oval has the words "For Home" and the bottom has the words "And Country" on a green background.I don't think it's of any value but i am very curious about it's history. Your teaspoon has the logo of the Womens Institute, founded in Britain in 1915 and going strong! See Womens Institute Any other information on the spoon, such as maker etc, may allow an approximate dating. If this spoon is sterling silver, it probably has four small marks which will be the maker, the town mark, the lion for silver quality, and a letter which corresponds to the year. If it doesn't have these marks, it is probably silver-plated. IP: Logged |
