[08-0240] HI, This is my first post. I have an interesting business card holder that I believe is from Dublin, 1910 but not sure. I am also looking to identify the maker. Can anyone help?
Thanks. IP: Logged |

Regret this is not a hallmark, but a gothic letter or Old English version of the initials EPNS (electro-plated nickle silver). I do not know the maker Clive IP: Logged |

The EPNS marks indicate Sliver Plate, not a sterling piece. As mentioned, these letters stand for Electro-plated Nickle Silver. Because most silverplate (generally of less value than sterling) pieces do not have date letters, it is difficult to determine age. The best way to determine date on silverplate items is to track the manufacturer and determine if their mark was registered during a specified period. You might want to move this to the SILVERPLATE forum for further discussion. Thank you for your input. I knew this was silver plate but was curious about the mark. Susan IP: Logged |
