Hi there i have two pieces, looking for some info on the maker, the marks are Slater Bros EP Venture NS Sheffield so i think its sheffield plate, but some info on the maker would be good, thanks for the help, Kev IP: Logged |

I have nothing on the Slater Bros. The EP and NS probably stand for Electro Plate and Nickle Silver. "Sheffield Plate" is often used to discribe the technique of fusing a layer of silver to the surface of copper and using this material to make the item needed. If your pieces are electroplated nickle silver they would not be considered "Sheffield Plate". [This message has been edited by FredZ (edited 04-12-2004).] IP: Logged |

There was a SLATER BROS at Arundel Street and Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield, ca. 1850 to at least 1919; they were well-known razor and cutlery makers. IP: Logged |
