I know the pattern is damask rose from Oneida however the other items I have found stated damask rose on the back this one does not only states heirloom sterling by Oneida. But when I look it up the writing of heirloom sterling is regular type not the script type I have seen on different pieces in my references does this mean its not real or a later piece if its real I am definitely going back to the flea market I found this at and see if there is any more of them.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Hi there Arthur,

At various times, Heirloom and Oneida marked the backs of the patterns differently. I believe they started marking the pattern names in the mid 1950's, but I may be wrong.

At any rate, if you see a piece of "Damass Rose" marked with a company name and the word sterling, you can bet that it is the real thing, weather or not it has the pattern name stamped on it.

Hope this helps..

Marc

Thank you very much.

I was very indifferent to the pieces authenticity with how I acquired it. I knew I liked the piece and I only try to collect different looking items and like I said I couldn't find the same type of marking anywhere I looked.

Again thanks a lot Marc
