Yesterday, I received the following e-mail message and have been too busy to help out. I thought I would post her e-mail message here for all to see and hopefully one of you can help her. Thanks I received a beautiful silver bowl from my in-laws. Let me describe it to you. The company name listed on the bottom is B.G. Uher Silver Company. Other details on the bottom are "quadruple" and the number 815. There is also another number F2018 (subscript X) that has been hand-etched into the bottom. The bowl is fairly heavy, in comparison to a sterling silver bowl. The handle is made of two silver twig-like branches that overlap at the top of the handle. The bowl's rim is uneven because is looks like whoever made it took their thumb and made little "ruffles" along the edge. It looks similar to what one might do to a pie shell, but some of the indentions are deeper and wider than others. On the outer shell of the bowl are leaves and flowers that have been etched in on the front. They appear to have been etched in by using some sort of a knifelike tool. My father-in-law said that he believes it was made pre-1935. He took it to a local silver company and they had no information on it. Please help me. IP: Logged |
