[26-1093] The photo depicts one of two salt and pepper shakers I just acquired (because I loved the little feet). The word "England" is engraved on the bottom of one of the three claw feet, and I cannot interpret the mark in the shield. I was hoping someone with more knowledge about English silverplate(?) might be of help in identifying the age and maker. There are no other marks. They are 5" tall with a pear-shaped body, despite the reflections appearing in the photo. Thanks for any assistance.

Your mark looks like one used by the Ellis-Barker Silver Companies of Birmingham, England. It was used on silverplated holloware starting around 1912. They opened an American branch in New York in 1897. In Europe they are known as Barker-Ellis. IP: Logged |

Thanks so much. I finally verified the mark through Rainwater's, but got confused with the variety of marks used by this company. IP: Logged |
