I recently purchased this at a yard sale and would like to know what it is. The bottom is burgundy felt with the imprint of international silver compnay. If any one knows its intended use or aprox age please let me know. I would also appreciate tips on how to find the information. Thank you Photo: IP: Logged |

Although you do not list the dimensions, this appears to mimic an 18C tea caddy. Suspect your piece dates to the 1950s or later, and that it is a decorative box in the style of an old tea caddy. [This message has been edited by Paul Lemieux (edited 07-18-2006).] IP: Logged |

Can remember stacks of these in department stores somewhere around 1980s-90s, in photo-illustrated boxes, believe they were made in India. Larger size (approx. 5" wide) was in the home decor area, smaller ones (approx. 3") were in the jewelry dept. Cheryl ;o) IP: Logged |
