[26-1154] Need help on a Wm. A. Rogers mark. There are several Wm Rogers’s and the Wm A. Rogers listed in such sources as Rainwater. However, I can’t find the trademark with a deer. This trademark is on a set of electroplate sugar and creamer we have with a Wm. A. Rogers Canada trademark. The trademark has a shield with a deer leaping across the middle to the left, a knight’s helmet facing right above the deer with possibly a dragon??? forming a triangular effect above the helmet, “Wm. A. Rogers” and “Canada” below the deer. Under the shield is “EPBM” and pattern number “4877”. Can anyone pinpoint exactly which Rogers this mark belongs to and a date range?
TIA. --- Susan IP: Logged |

This is an Oneida mark, one of the Rogers brands owned by that company today. Just when you think you've seen them all, along comes another mark. I have never encountered this one. From the shape and style, this looks to be in the period 1890 to 1910. It is most likely a spoonholder. The style seems to set a date, and then we guess about the mark. Interesting challenge, thanks for posting. IP: Logged |

Dale, Thank you on your thoughts about this piece! A little history on this sugar or spoon bowl, it really belongs to a niece visiting with us. She had brought it along in hopes I could help in dating it. She inherited this piece plus a matching creamer – doesn’t have with her – from her maternal grandmother who was born 1912, married 1937, and lived her whole life in and around Sherbrooke, Que, Canada. We had taken it for granted it was a sugar bowl because of the matching creamer. However, I was surprised at the relatively narrow neck for a sugar bowl. Measurements: stands 4”, top diameter 3¼”, diameter at widest point of bowl 4”, from handle to handle 5¾”. My niece had wondered if they might have originally been her great grandparents who were married 1902. With the date range running 1890-1910, we now suspect they probably were her great grandparent’s. Again, thank you. --- Susan IP: Logged |
