[26-1463] Hi all, My name is Raquel and I am from Florida. I am into reading, coin collecting, gem hunting, collecting Sterling 'trinkets' & just "cheap" treasure-hunting in general. I had a nice yard-sale find today - one piece (a coffee decanter with warmer stand) doesn't seem to be silver at all (after cleaning the dried on silver-polish off, from the sellers attempts, I noticed only a sticker that said "made in China")... but the other piece was a Silverplated chafing dish warming stand. It was pretty "black & blue"... so I spent the day cleaning it until I got "yellowed silver" and then polishing it until I got a nice "chrome-silver" look. The silverplate company mark was on the inner leg of the stand, and sadly, after polishing it.... it was too shiny (or just poorly stamped) for me to make out the name of the company. I am trying to find out the silverplate company, era it was made & location. Hopefully I can find out what type of original serving bowl was used as it came with a mis-fitting anchor hocking "Fire-King" bowl. The picture below is the best I could get my camera to try and focus on the mark in macro.
Thanks for any insight or informational links that you can provide ~ IP: Logged |

Eventually you may get a more authoritative answer to your question; but in the meantime, I'll weigh with what I have surmised so far. Raimond Silverplate first came into existence in 1942. Eventually it became part of Leonard Silverplate and then Towle. And I'll stop there because I've probably already "bit off more than I can chew." Good luck with your research. IP: Logged |

Bascall, thank you... Sometimes it just takes a second pair of eyes! I tried many variations and came up with nothing, but when I searched using "Raimond" I found something online which seems to be the same piece, unfortunately, with very little information other than 40'-50' era. I shall keep researching... IP: Logged |
