I have three silverplate demitasse spoons that have the following mark on the back: IA SVALPNS 20. Can you tell me anything about them? Thanks so much. IP: Logged |

Hi Carolanne, Welcome to the forum. We ask first time posters to introduce themselves and say a bit about their interest in silver. We also really need photos to help id your piece. I can say that silverplate is very hard to date or id, since marking it has not been regulated by law as has the marking of solid silver. I suspect 1A refers to thickness of silver coat. Also, check and see if the last four letters are "EPNS" rather than "LPNS". EPNS would be "electroplated nickel silver." But, as I say, without photos, I cannot be confident in these conclusions. Try searching the silverplate forum for more info. Cheers, IP: Logged |
