I've gotten into estate sale and find things from time to time that I think are cool. When the sale is run by a dealer they pretty much know what's what but when a family runs it Ive gotten some things that tuned out to be other things - Pyrex insulator anyone? I got this small footed thing with little legs and a cover described as a butter dish.
Not marked sterling or plate, not marked with anything except the above which has been harder to track down than I thought. It looks more irregular than a machine made thing - and the lid is really heavy. Heavier than it looks. Also the tarnish is more a charcoal color not that blue color that plate gets. Could this be sterling? Any one know what the heck it is? Or by who? Tracy IP: Logged |

It is silver plated, not silver. I do not immediately recognize the maker from the marks, but perhaps someone here will. Could youl please post a couple of photos of the overall butter plate? That might help pin it down. IP: Logged |
