[01-1117] One more time trying to get the pics right: Can someone please help me identify this item. I have no idea where to begin on looking for this mark. I don't know what year or what country to look for it in. The numbers are 5250

The mark appears to be one used by the Hartford Sterling Co., a Philadelphia-based silverplate manufacturer. They were in business from 1902 to at least 1931. The style of your piece places it in the 1920's, and it is silver plate. I believe there have been a few more threads regarding this company; if you use the Forum search function, you may be able to get some more information. Brent IP: Logged |

I could never spend too much time on researching a gift for my wife. LOL Seldom do I search for value of the item, only the story behind it. It is always the telling of the story on each different items in our home that makes the pieces stand out so well. We both got divorced and lost everything to our X's, so now we are building our home's history, one piece at a time. ------------------ IP: Logged |

You might like to compare this to a similar piece with a handle which appeared in the Forum some time ago: Has anyone seen this mark before? This piece was attributed in that thread to Hemill Silverware Inc. Company of New York. IP: Logged |
