[01-1372] I'm trying to find out about my chafing dish. On the bottom it says:
IS International Silver co Rochelle (in cursive) 7055 It is a very heavy piece, about 10 lbs. Not on feet.....more of a stand. It has a black wooden handle and a black wood knob on the top. It has a fancy edge on the very bottom and also on the rim of the dish. The cover is engraved with a flowery type design under the handle and along the outside edge.

Since no one seems to know anything about this, could you direct me to a source that I might lookup the ROCHELLE pattern for some dating? IP: Logged |

Hollow ware patterns are usually not datable. They are made for long periods of time and sometimes altered slightly to fit new design trends. From the name, I would guess this first came out in the 1960's when a lot of French type names were popular. It was probably made until IS went out of business in the 80's. There is virtually no research on these patterns. IP: Logged |

The Rochelle pattern was first introduced by Webster-Wilcox Silver Company, which is now part of the International Silver Company. Items bearing the International backstamp were produced after 1961. The Rochelle pattern was a full line of hollowware, meaning that not only was a full size tea service produced in this pattern, but many different service pieces of hollowware were made as well including various size trays, a water pitcher, a gravy boat, centerpiece, double vegetable dish, as well as your chafing dish. Hope this helps answer your question! IP: Logged |

Thank you very much for your replies. I thought the piece was much older so that solves a mystery for me. IP: Logged |
