[01-1990] I am absolutely rubbish at identifying silver, although I have had a mooch around the net and found this site, so I thought someone could help a real amateur. I have this cruet set, crystal glass. The hallmark on the photo is from the spoon which I believe is original to the set, it's 5.5" long. I can't find a thing on it. Can anyone help? Thanks, Jen IP: Logged |

Your item is silver plate indicated by the EP" and "A1" marks, probably dates to 1910-1920. IP: Logged |

Many thanks. But what about the other marks, can't find a thing on those. What actually does A1 mean?

A generally accepted designation of standard grade plating or 2 troy ounces of pure silver per gross of teaspoons. IP: Logged |
