This is a candelabra by Mappin and Webb with what I think is one of their early marks. Most references for Mappin and Webb show them starting in 1863. These candelabra are unusual as they appear to be Old Sheffield Plate in construction with a bead of silver placed on top of the edges. They also are old enough to have acquired a slightly blueish look of Old Sheffield Plate. The S&L portion of the mark stands for Sheffield and London. IP: Logged |
