This is a one cup (8 oz) teapot made by the International Silver Company as part of their hotel silverplate line. This particular pot was made for the Mayfair Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Mayfair Hotel was known for its salad dressing that they invented for the St. Louis 1904 World’s Fair. Later, at least in St. Louis, the salad itself was known as the Mayfair salad.
When I lived in St. Louis the local Bar Association had a restaurant on the top floor that was a great gathering place. The hotel is now named the Magnolia Hotel.
The patent noted on the bottom of the pot was granted in August of 1927 and covered the construction of the handles used on the pot. This pot was made in 1934 as shown by the number 34 in the rectangular box on the bottom and the 8 oz shows the size. I think the rough surface of the pot indicated that it was cast.
