[26-1549] Hello, I found this old fork with the word Aschenbrodel (Cinderella) on the front and Victor S. Co. Triple on the back. Any ideas where this may be from?

Welcome to the forum. Existing SSF members are reluctant to respond until you first do some sharing about yourself and your interests in silver and in particular the item being asked about. It would be best if you would start by reading the top of this page where it says Please Read Before You Post and then add the requested information to your posting SSF is just a small group of people who enjoy discussing silver and it is good form to introduce yourself to the group. Please let us know a little more about your general interest in silver and your interest in learning more about your item. Is the item part of your personal silver collection or are you researching in hopes of possibly selling it? IP: Logged |

Hello, I started collecting hotel silver long ago in hopes of having a large varied collection to set my table. I also have different dishes for each setting. Anyway, as I tried to use them, I found I couldn't eat with silverplate as it tasted awful to me. Something about an allergy according to what I've been told. So, I sold most of it off. This piece I picked up out of interest, cleaned it just with warm soap and water and tried to eat with it again. Can't do. So, I'm interested in learning its origins in case I decide to sell it. Thanks! IP: Logged |

Mr. Martin, I was referred here by a member of the Vintage board on ebay for help in the identification. I don't appreciate being called rude. Please give me instructions on how to log out and unsubscribe. IP: Logged |

No one called you anything. If you are feeling rude it is because you didn't respect the Guidelines which you agreed to when you registered to post at the Silver Salon Forums. If you do share a mutual interest in the subject of silver/precious metal objects and can share/discuss the same without a business motive then you are welcomed at the SSF. Your registration is active and there is no way for you to unregister. If you share a passion for discussing silver and will read & abide by the Guidelines then you are welcomed to post. IP: Logged |

Hi Toofbrush. There seems to have been a misunderstanding on the part of whomever on the Ebay Vintage Board advised you as to what the Silver Salon Forum is. Their recommendation to you created an expectation on your part that was not met and it resulted in some unfair hard feelings you have towards the folks on this forum. This forum is quite unlike most forums you come across on the internet. When you read through the guidelines and the postings you will see that this one is limited to discussions among people who simply collect and appreciate objects made of silver. One of the aspects that is most different in this forum from the average internet forum you come across is that this one is not meant to be a place for free identification/research/appraisal for people who are in the business of selling silver. Of course many people on this forum do sell silver from time to time, but they do not use this forum for identifying and researching their silver that they are selling. They keep that part of their interest in silver separate. Scott did not call you rude. He simply copied sections from the forum rules that explain why this forum is not a 'simple ask the expert, instant identification and/or appraisal so you an sell it for more money' type forum. Many of the experts on this forum are the ones who write the books, work as professional appraisers, curate the museums, etc. and would not participate in this forum if it turned into an instant identification/appraisal site for others to go out and make money on their generous sharing their expertise when they are here simply to engage in polite conversation with other people who share their appreciation of silver as an art form. This is the meaning of the part in the guidelines where it tries to explain why it is not polite to join this forum if the purpose is for personal financial gain. As Scott said, we would all warmly welcome you or anyone else who would like to participate in the forum as a person who enjoys and appreciates silver. From your description of your interest, it sounds like you once had such an interest with a focus on silver plate. If you decide to get back into your collecting I am sure you would find this to be a great forum to have stimulating dicussions. All that is asked is that you separate your collecting from your selling and use other forums for your selling research. Have a great day! There are sellers on this site, and this is accommodated by the forum's guidelines. And as has been pointed out in the past information has value. However this site goes beyond just gleaning information for a sale. It is at the very least educational. It spurs on further interest in all aspects of silver and related matters. It has so many good aspects that it is not fair to relegate it to just a source for quick evaluations. Regular users of this site appreciate all this and hopefully in time you will too. IP: Logged |
