[26-1608] My 90-year-old friend Eve has what appears to be a Freemason's medal, presented to her grandfather in 1879. From what I can tell, it's a Fireman's Medal from the I.O.G.F. It's attached to a thick chain that's marked with the London lion, a small q, and the maker' mark is J&E F. Can anyone tell me who J&E F was? He lived in Yorkshire all his life. Many thanks, IP: Logged |

The maker's mark J&EF does not appear in Culme's book on London Gold & Silvermsiths 1838 - 1914. Could you post a picture? IP: Logged |

What do you mean by 'the London lion'? If you mean the uncrowned leopard head, okay, but if you mean the lion passant, well that isn't just for London. IP: Logged |

The I.O.G.F. would be the Independent Order of Good Fellows, a fraternal organization. IP: Logged |
