I have a 4 1/4 high cup, marked 835 with a crown and half-moon on one side and a horse turned side-ways on the other side. It was engraved with a dedication in Mannheim,Germany in 1922. Anyone have an idea who and when made ? IP: Logged |

Participating on this site entails a small but important trade off. The guidelines must be read. An introduction of yourself which is discussed in the guidelines is then requested. After you've familiarized yourself with the site and we've learned a little about your interest in silver, you can expect a cordial welcome or two or more and some very good answers to your guestions if they're available. Good luck with your research. The yellow box above will get you going on all of this. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 10-18-2008).] IP: Logged |

Hallo Eric, I also had problems with my first topic/s for to send photo's about patterns or silver marks, but time will learn and perhaps you can give it a try from your side. The unicorn is a possibility and if you recognize it from the photo, the makers are They started their Silber Fabrik im 1860 and still proceed. There is a difference of silver alloy with silver marks, concern 800, 835 stamps. Perhaps they also make silver with higher alloy. After all this English/German writing it's now time for to wait and see if you can give it a try. Success and perhaps you can give some information if you collecting silver etc.

Bascall, Your post was absolutely NOT "that bad!" You were kind and said the exact same thing that someone else would have said, only you included a smiley and said it nicely. I think the original poster must not be interested in being a member of this forum...they just seem to want information, once, on one item only. You are a jewel, and you basically stated the "rules of the game." If someone has a problem reading the rules or following them, well.... Bethiepoo & eric kahn, thank you both very much. There's a lot that could be said about an incident like this, but here's just one point from me. The man got what he was looking which is fine. However, he did it without ever acknowledging the tremendous amount of time and effort that goes into producing and sustaining a site like this. He would never had received his answer so easily otherwise, and there's the pity. IP: Logged |

I need to back up a little bit here myself and apologize. Ed you did acknowledge things went awry, and that's good enough for me. It's not my place to be so harsh with anybody on this site. I am totally embarrassed with myself. Please accept my apology. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 10-20-2008).] IP: Logged |

Mine is a very small and insignificant part of the work that goes into this site, but thank you indeed. IP: Logged |
