[26-1935] Hello everybody, I was wondering if someone could identify the pattern or mark on these beautiful spoons I recently bought. The only marking on them is a rhomb with 0 inside as far as I can see. Any help is appreciated. IP: Logged |

Sorry I do not know the answer to your question, but from what I can see in the photos they seem to be crudely cast - I see bubble voids and a rough surface. If they are, they could be copies of a spoon made by a known maker but with the markings lost and replaced by a generic marking of the person who made these copies? IP: Logged |

Yes Kimo you might be right. The first time I saw them I thought the same but the thing that made me doubt is that the reason the handels are so rough and crude may be because they are in the shape of a branches. I will try to clean them and maybe I will post more datailed pictures. Thank you for your attention! IP: Logged |

The ones I have seen of this type have tended to be rather crude, as these are, and with some sort of connection to Asia. The date for them varies a great deal, from 1890 to 1930 and then after the war. No idea beyond that. My suspicion is that these were originally in brass or nickle and became plated at a later date. Sometimes the flowers are enamaled. [This message has been edited by Dale (edited 12-19-2009).] IP: Logged |
