[26-2042] Recently I have bought a Christofle Candlestick. Could anyone please tell me more about this piece? It once has been electrified and a hole is drilled just beside the name of Christofle, possible another mark was once there where the hole is now. Also there is a number at the underside of the rim:828103. It is a thick and heavy piece,to me it looks like it is silverplated on brass. It is in a Georgian style.I would like to sent pictures but I have not figured out yet how to do this. Thank you for answering. [This message has been edited by maarten (edited 09-19-2010).] ================================================================ Thank you Kimo for welcoming me to this forum and my sincere apologies for not introducing myself properly. I am 57 years old from Rotterdam,Holland. My main interest lies in collecting paintings/sculptures up to the 1930th's. I bought this candlestick by change at a local antique fair. Now I find myself drawn to this particular field of collecting. And knowing absolutely nothing of silver. I was glad to find your forum, hence my querie. Regarding posting pictures,I've tried several times and indeed followed the instructions, but due to my very limited talents on computer related subjects I have not succeeded yet. I will try again of course. Kindest regards to you and fellow members, IP: Logged |

Welcome to the forum. In particular what we ask all new members to do is to please introduce themselves just a bit, tell us about your interest in silver in general and what is your particular interest in the object about which you are asking. Is this part of a collection you have, or are you doing research to sell it, or are you a silversmith, or such? Second, it is pretty much impossible to provide any meaningful information without photos included in your posting. Giving a link to another website with photos on it is not helpful. There are step by step instructions in the 'Please Read Before You Post' yellow box at the top of the forum pages on how to post a photo so it will show up in your posting here. Be sure to include well lit, clear and sharp photos of the overall object, any interesting designs or features, and a closeup of any markings. Be sure the photo is no wider than 640 dpi. Looking forward to seeing your candlestick and hearing about your interest in silver and in this particular object. Regards, IP: Logged |
