In 2008, I believe, "Brent" posted an identification of a serving fork that was Jensenesque but not Jensen. He identified it as LaPagia. Recently I bought an identical fork and matching spoon-i.e., a salad set. Both pieces in the set bear the Meriden Britannia hallmark (the eagle with raised wings--but without the M on the top) and the word STERLING. However, I've shown the set to 2 retired International designers and one LaPaglia collector and they don't believe the design IS LaPaglia. Until I can post a photo myself, I will piggyback on the photo sent in by "Brent." Any suggestions? IP: Logged |

introduction--sorry for skipping Hi--I am a collector and sometimes writer about silver. I'm interested in coin silver, Danish/Scandinavian, and 20th century sterling. Also brightcut Victorian (have I left anything out?). I just wrote trying to identify a strange pair of salad servers--possibly LaPaglia but others think not. This forum is excellent. Everyone seems to know so much. Also, it's amazing to look at something like a Roman spoon. Thanks, Pattyjo1. IP: Logged |

Welcome, and thanks for the introduction. What sort of writing do you do, and for what outlet(s)? IP: Logged |

I have written one long research article in Silver Magazine in 1986, on a major designer of art deco silver at International (Alfred G. Kintz). No pay that I recall. Recently I saw that they needed articles and I've written a couple of new ones (not published yet). Theoretically the magazine now pays for the articles, but the writer does not know when or how much. (Possibly as little as $40, I was told.) Mostly I write because I love looking at silver, doing research, and writing--am a retired journalist with the time to do this. IP: Logged |
