Hi When you are a new user, only this section is available. When you have written why you are interested, and you have showed that you master the "science" of posting pictures. And you have asked interesting questions - and given reply. Then a full membership is issued. I have not followed your posts, but in general terms that is what is requested. regards from denmark. I think I've done all that. For example I have posted some pictures successfully - in fact my posts include pictures of the "Cary Boynton & Woodford" mark, and two variations of a mark for "C Babbit[t]" which may be of interest to Wev (or not). In addition to the other coin silver maker marks I mentioned above, I have some some american sterling (Gorham, Tiffany, Dominick & Haff and others) that I would be interested in getting more information on. I have to admit that taking pictures for posts is the hardest part, especially since they have to be edited to fit. Has this forum considered changing their software so it would automatically resize the picture link before previewing it? Other forums (not for silver but other antiques that I also collect) seem to do this without trouble. (But maybe this would require an expensive or disruptive software change that has therefore been rejected). Making it easier for a newbie to post and especially post pictures would probably encourage more new members to contribute here. There is obviously an incredible wealth of knowledge here, it's too bad to have technical limitations that make posting harder than it has to be. IP: Logged |

I thought I did, but I must have missed something. Sorry - could you let me know what else I need to do? IP: Logged |

I'm not an "insider" so I may be missing something, but this is what I see in the Guidelines: "Posting privileges may be extended to the other public forums once a new member has demonstrated that he or she: * Consistently respect and abide by the SSF Guidelines. I think I have done all that? I haven't been called out for violating any guidelines, I've posted numerous times, and I've properly posted photos. I would have contributed more if I had the rights to do so - I've read several threads in the other sections that I wanted to contribute to but was blocked from doing so. The rest seems to be concerned with buy/sell etiquette - but the stuff in my collection has been there for many years and none of it has been put up for sale. I'm sorry, but there must be something else that I haven't seen - if so could you please let me know what it is? IP: Logged |
