I was in NJ the other day and went to a local antique center where I found this set of 3 serving spoons. I love the pattern with its asymmetrical swirls and the motif at the top of the handle that resembles a shell or a crashing wave. But, my favorite bit are the 2 single flower motifs which end in a sinuous little tendril, like roots as if someone pulled a plant out of the dirt.

I could not identify the mark. I am assuming the spoons are plate and possibly Dutch, but I am not sure. Any thoughts always appreciated!

Thanks, Kelly

Hello Kelly,

Nice decorated spoons, they look dutch to me, standard silverplate is the figure 90.

Can you tell me which letters are standing in the round mark BC or BG ? and what is the size of these spoons.

I hope I can find the makers mark.

With the makers mark we can combine a period when these one's were made.

André.

Hi André

Thank you for your reply. My first inclination was also that they were Dutch in origin. The spoons measure 8.5". The mark is a BC I believe, but the C has a tail almost like a French ç.

Hope that information helps.

Thanks again, Kelly
